Semi versus bicycle accident shuts down US Highway 65 near Sheffield for three hours this morning

SHEFFIELD — US Highway 65 south of Sheffield was blocked off for about three hours this morning after a semi versus bicycle accident.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department says they were called to respond to the accident at about 3:45 this morning. One person was transported to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City for treatment. The identities of those involved in the accident as well as other details about the accident are not being released at this time.
US Highway 65 was opened back up to traffic just before 7 o’clock.
The Iowa State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
