Mason City man sentenced on sexual abuse charges

MASON CITY — A Mason City man has received a 30 year prison sentence after being found guilty of sexual abuse.

Mason City police say they had received reports that 40-year-old Bryan Holmes was having sexual contact with an underage person over the course of several months. Police say Holmes and the victim were acquainted and that the incident occurred at a home in Mason City. Holmes was also wanted for a warrant for violating parole. Holmes was found guilty by a jury last month of three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

District Judge DeDra Schroeder on Friday sentenced him to ten years in prison on each count. He must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
