MASON CITY — A man has been cited after his truck was stuck on railroad tracks in northwestern Mason City.

The Mason City Police Department says at about 4 o’clock Sunday morning officers were sent to check on a truck stuck on the Union Pacific tracks near 9th Northwest between North Monroe and North Jackson, and when officers arrived they found an unoccupied truck.

During their investigation, officers found the truck had been eastbound on 9th Northwest and crashed through signage that had been in place since the railroad crossing was removed as part of the city’s Quiet Zone Project last year.

43-year-old Aaron Madson was later cited for failing to maintain control and for not having a driver’s license. Mason City police say they are continuing their investigation into the incident and that more charges may be likely.
