Mason City High School associate principal, athletic director resigns

MASON CITY — A Mason City High School associate principal who was also the activities and athletics director for the school has resigned.

Barry Andersen was placed on paid administrative leave last month for undisclosed reasons. According to a resignation agreement between Andersen and the school district and approved by the district’s school board at their meeting on Monday night, he will remain on full paid leave until June 30th and he will not apply for employment with the district in the future.

Andersen was hired last school year as the athletics and activities director to replace Bob Kenny, who retired from the position after 11 years.
