Workshop Title: Understanding Addiction & Recovery: Information for Family, Friends, and Caregivers
Attendance is not limited to the above. The topic will be of interest to anyone who would like to learn more about addiction
Workshop Description: This program will, among other things, help people gain knowledge about addiction and how scientific understanding of it has progressed over time. The recovery process will be discussed including readiness, entry, during, and long-term stages. The difference between harm reduction and medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) will be examined. The vital roles that family, friends, and caregivers play in providing support as well as a look at self-care and available resources will be shared.
