Christmas tree pickup scheduled in Mason City, Clear Lake

MASON CITY — With Christmas behind us, those with real Christmas trees in Mason City and Clear Lake can get ready to have them collected.
== Mason City’s City Administrator Aaron Burnett says trees will be collected on one date this year, Wednesday January 8th. They should be placed at curbside prior to 7:00 AM on that date. If the tree is over six feet tall, you are asked to cut it in half before placing it at the curb. Any tree stands, nails, metal fasteners, wire, tinsel and plastic bags must be removed from the tree. Roping or wreaths that contain wire must be placed in the regular garbage or they can be taken to a disposal site at 14th Northeast and Elm Drive by January 8th. Flocked trees will not be picked up, and those can also be taken to the 14th Northeast and Elm Drive site no later than January 8th.
== The Clear Lake Public Works Department will be picking up live Christmas trees on Friday January 10th. Residents are asked to have the trees placed on the curb with all decorations removed and not in plastic bags. Trees will not be picked up in alleys, commercial properties or inside mobile home parks. Residents may also take trees to the city’s Yard Waste Facility at 1419 2nd Avenue South at any time.
