CHARLES CITY — A Charles City man injured in a motorcycle crash in Mitchell County last month has died from his injuries.

34-year-old John Carpenter was driving a motorcycle on the afternoon of August 24th and lost control while negotiating a curve near the intersection of West Main and Commercial Streets in the town of Mitchell. Passenger Ashley Carpenter was thrown from the motorcycle, which then struck multiple trees, with the motorcycle landing on top of John Carpenter in the west ditch.

A social media post by the Charles City Fire Department, where Carpenter was a firefighter, says he died on Monday due to his injuries.
